LOL: Spurs lose again! Lie LAST in the table!

September 28th, 2008 by The Editor, EF24/7

Tottenham lose once again! This time to Portsmouth. Defoe scored the first goal(P) against his former club after Jenas brilliantly handled the ball in the box. Crouch added the second. Spurs are without a win in their last six and apparently are strong relegation candidates. Adding to their misery, they have lesser points than even what DERBY had last season!

Tottenham now find themselves last in the table after giving their usual “finishing in the top four” threats before the season. Perhaps, we are bored of those claims now, as they are rather hilarious!

Come this way to commiserate with poor Spurs!

Aston Villa look BRILLIANT! Everton WOEFUL!

September 28th, 2008 by The Editor, EF24/7

Aston Villa have been playing EXTREMELY good football off late. They currently stand 3rd in the Premiership above United and Arsenal. We predict they would finish in the top six this season! Last week we saw them thrash Tottenham at White Hart Lane. Yesterday they came from behind to defeat Sunderland and cement their place in the top four.

Come this way for all your Comments!

On the other hand, after having a highly successful year last season and finishing 5th, Everton look in a dreadful condition and lie 12th in the table. Yesterday they were convincingly beaten 2-0 by Liverpool at Goodison park. They don’t possess the class they used to and haven’t really bought any players this season to help their cause. Adding to their misery, they were dumped out of the Carling Cup by Blackburn Rovers. Everton’s record signing, Fellaini, who was apparently going to add ’strength and energy’ into the squad, has till now been one of the disasters of the season. Also, one of the biggest problems for David Moyes now is how to revamp his utterly SHAMBOLIC defence! Who are just getting worse game after game!

Arsenal have LOST 1-2 to HULL CITY at the Emirates!

September 28th, 2008 by The Editor, EF24/7

Arsenal - Macshane - 55′ (OG)

Hull - Deiberson Geovanni - 62′ / Daniel Cousin - 66′

Arsenal have touched a career low of inconsistency by winning the last few games respectably and now losing this one to Hull City, yes HULL CITY at the Emirates!

Arsene Wenger’s 12th Anniversary was marked with a defeat as his ‘young and developing’ squad could not overcome a newly promoted Hull City side. This has by far been the result of the season and Arsenal have absolutely nobody but themselves to blame since they could not kill the game earlier on. They obviously had their usual misses and their not-so-effective in the box passing. Van persie did come close to scoring at the end of the game but could not capitalize on his chances.

So will THIS inconsistent team get any kind of glory this season?

Come this way to laugh at Arsenal!

Ronaldo ’s Back! But is Berbatov EVEN required by United?!?

September 28th, 2008 by The Editor, EF24/7

Today at Old Trafford Manchester United won the game 2 goals to nil against Bolton. Cristiano Ronaldo finally played to his potential and showed his class that he displayed the whole of last season by having a go at the goal many a times before finally netting the ball from the spot at the stroke of the hour after he was brought down by Samuel. Bolton were clearly miffed with the decision and TV replays did justify their unhappiness as it clearly showed that the defender played the ball when he slid into Ronaldo. Bolton did put a good show and gave a tough time to SAF’s boys with their efforts to break the dead-lock in the first half and good defending to keep the United strikers in check for a long time. Rooney’s exchange of passes with Ronaldo and his brilliant strike was an indication of his return to form. Manchester United did play brilliant football in the last 15 minutes to create enough chances for a couple of more goals but unfortunately failed to convert.

Berbatov - United’s £32m purchase this season was clearly outshone by Ronaldo and looked out of place till the Portuguese international was substituted and ONLY played well then.

Our Question: Did SAF make a mistake by buying Berbatov as he is clearly having problems adjusting him in the forward line-up with Rooney, Tevez and most importantly Crisitiano Ronaldo who is at least playing this season for the Champions?!?

September 27th, 2008 by The Editor, EF24/7

Waow. Kinnear appointed as interim manager at Newcastle

September 26th, 2008 by The Editor, EF24/7

After apparently being rejected by 17 managers, Newcastle have finally appointed Joe Kinnear as their new boss but on short-term basis. Newcastle have been without a manager since the past few games.

Much to the discontent of Newcastle fans, Kevin Keegan has walked out of the club and his chances of returning are slim till the time Mike Ashley is owner.

Also, interim manager Kinnear claims that if and when Ashley gets a buyer for the club, Keegan and Alan Shearer will take over. He said, “I understand investors are about to buy the club, Mike Ashley told me openly. I will be here for 6-8 games.” Kinnear has previously managed Luton, Forest and WImbledon.

Can things get any worse for Newcastle United?

September 25th, 2008 by The Editor, EF24/7

Not only are Newcastle United in their usual bottom half of the table but also are out of the Carling cup now. They are not in the Uefa cup and champions league was NEVER an option. Tottenham claimed their first domestic win of the season last night after defeating the Magpies 2-1 at their own ground. Adding to their misery, they have a manager who is NOT really very good(and he’s not even there apparently) and an owner who was never interested. Also, Newcastle currently lie in the relegation zone and are apparently one of the favourites to play in the championship next season!

Newcastle might be taken over by a Nigerian Group and there is speculation that Terry Venables might be their next manager. Waow. Terry Venables, the Englishman who has changed 11 club/country jobs in 18 years. Most importantly, EVEN he has rejected them now!

So what worse can happen for poor Newcastle?

Come this way to laugh at them!

Will Platini Ever Stop ?

September 24th, 2008 by The Editor, EF24/7

So the UEFA president has been on English football’s case ever since his appointment in 2006 as the UEFA supremo. He has obviously made that pretty evident after his recent comments on Arsenal. Platini recently commented on Wenger’s suggestion of introducing video replays to rule on questionable refereeing decisions, calling him a businessman and not a football manager. This is not the first time Platini has commented on the happenings of English football, or on Arsene himself. In the recent past he has made comments such as Arsenal does not have English players and an English manager and may soon not even have an English president directly taking a cheap dig at Wenger. His comments on English football have also not been welcomed by English fans and clubs, comments on the fourth place spot for a UEFA Champions League berth, the money pumped into English football by foreign investors(read Americans), the huge debts that teams like Manchester United and Chelsea have run into , his heavy criticism of the proposal for a possible 39th game calling it a money making business rather than football, and also his demeaning of England’s bid to host the 2018 WC.

So the question is will Platini ever get over his Anti-Englishness ?

Carvalho/Deco May Be Out For a Month | Mineiro Signed

September 23rd, 2008 by The Editor, EF24/7

Chelsea defender Ricardo Carlvalho, who often bails out the ‘brave’ John Terry, is apparently out for at least a month. Ricardo was taken off in the 12th minute during the Chelsea-United game. He has suffered a medial collateral ligament damage which would sideline the Portuguese for at least three to four weeks.

Scolari’s problems were increased when an in-form Deco sustained a thigh tear the same day, during warm-up. Apparently Deco is out for at least 2 weeks. Michael Essien too is out for at least 5 months. However, the loss of these three will be softened by the return of Ballack and the unexpected arrival of Brazilian midfielder Mineiro.

So how much can all the injuries hamper the Blues title campaign?

Come this way for all your Comments!

Chelsea have confirmed the signing of 33-year-old Brazilian midfielder Mineiro. He has joined as a free agent from Brazilian club Atlético. Mineiro is expected to fill up the Essien void and also support Mikel in the holding role.

Kalou Rescues A Point For Chelsea;Home Record Maintained

September 21st, 2008 by The Editor, EF24/7

Chelsea - Kalou

Man Utd - Park-Ji-Sung

Second-half substitute Solomon Kalou made his presence felt when it was the MOST required and helped Chelsea maintain their unbeaten Home record, which has now touched 84 league games.

Come this way for all your Comments!

Chelsea were without Deco who was injured during the warm-up. Drogba also started on the bench but was introduced immediately after the interval. Chelsea’s pre-match plans were shattered to a limit after Carvalho was injured in the 11th minute and Alex replaced him. The Brazilian did however show his worth and rose to the occasion. United did not start with Tevez or Ronaldo, the latter however did come on in the second half but wasn’t as effective as he generally is.

United started brightly and went up in the first-half after Bosingwa allowed Evra to run into the Chelsea defence from the left channel and pass the ball to Berbatov. Cech did however save the first shot but could not prevent Park from netting the ball. Both teams had fair chances throughout the game and Chelsea equalized when Frank Lampard’s free-kick was joyfully headed in by substitute Solomon Kalou, who replaced Ballack.

We would also like to talk about a player who should NOT really be playing in Chelsea right now. Nicolas Anelka. He had fair enough chances to draw Chelsea level but SOME HOW managed not to!

Chelsea’s Best Chance:

Joe Cole passed the ball into the United box from the right and all anelka had to do was shoot into an open goal from a distance of barely 3 feet.

What happened:

The ball SOME HOW SOME WAY went dramatically through Anelka’s legs, and all he could do was keep his hands on his head. It was harder to miss! Awful!

Simple one: WHO will win Today? Chelsea or United?

September 21st, 2008 by The Editor, EF24/7

So who will win it?? Would it be a Chelsea side which is looking steady at the top of the premiership or would it be a struggling United side which is lagging behind with just 4 points? If Chelsea are to win this one, the gap between Chelsea-United would be increased to an interesting 9 points, with United having a game in hand.

Come this way for all your Comments!

The leading two have only played four league games, and United one fewer. At the same stage last season, United had just two points to Chelsea’s ten. But Chelsea went on to lose at Villa, and United won their next two to close the gap instantly.

But if Chelsea do defeat Manchester Utd, a nine point gap starts to look slightly more interesting, though United will still have a game in hand. Previously both sides had met during the memorable Champions league final where Chelsea were just one kick away from winning the match but John Terry’s ‘unlucky’ slip, which caused a crucial penalty miss, snatched victory from the Blues.

Can Liverpool EVER win the Premier League?!?

September 21st, 2008 by The Editor, EF24/7

1989-90: Liverpool’s last league title. 1992-The Premier League era starts and since then Liverpool have yet to win a title. The main reason for this would be thier lack of consistency in a single season, let aside thier performance over a decade. After defeating Man Utd at home last weekend, Liverpool should have easily beaten newly promoted Stoke City. But no, they somehow manage to draw the game. Other than Gerrard’s goal which was disallowed due to unknown reasons Liverpool didn’t really do anything to force a gaol and clinch the game. The problem, as described by most of the fans and experts lies in the attacking department. People in Merseyside want Owen back, badly. We wonder what Liverpool fans have to say about thier lacklustre performance against the newbies? Liverpool somehow manage to blow it all away every single season i.e when they have a good start in the first place. They had a very good chance of going 3 points clear off the Blues but with a dismal performance they stay back. The question really is that will Liverpool- proudly part of the Big Four, ever be able to win the title again ? We don’t really think so. Considering thier performance last season - barely managing to secure the fourth spot, Liverpool’s target this year would be to maybe secure the fourth place rather easily !?!

Scolari-It’s not about CL revenge

September 20th, 2008 by The Editor, EF24/7

Chelsea manager Luiz Scolari claims that Sunday’s encounter against Manchester United would not be a revenge mission - apparently he has not even seen a video of last year’s final. United became champions of Europe last season after they defeated Chelsea in the penalty shoot-out.

Scolari also shares a working relationship with Sir Alex and it is apparently being said that the Chelsea boss would present SAF with a bottle of vine.

Scolari said, “after the game, we’ll have some vine.” He also mentioned that SAF does not like Portuguese vine since he did not have it Jose Mourinho.
