After Platini It’s Blatter’s Turn To Slam English Football, But Is He Completely Wrong?

March 28th, 2009 by The Editor, EF24/7

FIFA supremo Sepp Blatter, in a recent interview, lambasted the English domestic league - the BPL by calling it a money making business which is in complete contrast to FIFA’s objective of making football a cultural social event which brings the people of the world together and is a school life, hope and emotions.

Yeah totally, considering the BPL is the only league in the world which has more people coming from around the globe to play in it than any other league! This doesn’t really come as a surprise, as his good friend and UEFA chief Michael Platini has also been after English football since a long, long time calling it a ‘ just money making league’. But what does surprise us is the fact that this comes two weeks after Blatter personally visited OT for the second leg of the UCL encounter between Man Utd and Internazionale, to hand out the stupid, cheap and rubbish looking World-Champions badge to the Red Devils. At that time he called the BPL the greatest league in the world and said that he ‘loved’ it. Well, the look on his face during the game actually seconded that.

But according to Blatter what really concerns him is the failure of the League to produce a top-class team for England. Again, a ‘top-class team’ and not a ‘top-class bunch of individuals’. Considering the fact that the mere existence of a domestic league is to just find a pool of really talented individuals who can represent and successfully play for the national side, the BPL has failed in a lot of ways. Eboue Signs A New Contract With Arsenal And Benitez With Liverpool - YaaWN!

March 20th, 2009 by The Editor, EF24/7

In this current climate of financial meltdown, mass unemployment, repossessions and family break-ups it was heartening to read that Arsenal’s worst player this season has been rewarded with a new and improved contract. Even the manager had this to say, ‘I am pleased that Eboue starts to score because it looked to us that he could never score goals’

That was on Arsenal.com, hence true!
Well thanks to recession proof football, mediocrity has once again been handsomely rewarded. One would ask himself why on earth was Wenger playing him on the right side of midfield for, what a waste of a season, had Arsenal had a real winger there or even Florent Malouda, things might have been different for them today! Kirkland:”Bramble Should Play For England.” SURE!

March 17th, 2009 by The Editor, EF24/7

If there is anything that could sound funnier than Arsenal losing to Hull City at Emirates, it’s this! Wigan G.K. Chris Kirkland has tipped team-mate Titus Bramble to play for England. These words of wisdom came out of Kirkland’s mouth after Wigan’s 2-1 victory over Sunderland at the Stadium of Light last week. Apparently, Bramble also ‘dominates’ strikers and is an ‘International Standard’ player, as mentioned by Kirkland. Yes, he also does THIS while a game is going on. He surely is an international star!

So any other fans who think Titus Bramble should play for England?

What Do Liverpool Fans Have To Say To SAF, Man Utd? In FIVE Words Only!

March 15th, 2009 by The Editor, EF24/7

Now now - look what we might just have here. A two-horsed race to the title with Manchester United yet firmly holding on to the lead. But that’s just yet. We have been asking this question since a very, very long time - is it finally Liverpool’s year? Somehow no one seems to be giving the Scousers a chance at all.

Right from the time when they were at the top of the table till the Real Madrid bashing everyone kept ignoring them, saying that United already had the League in the bag. United, Chelsea and even Arsenal fans never gave them a chance at all. Obviously, the Scousers have been fancying a Premier League title ever since! But now suddenly after the 4-1 win at OT it seems that Liverpool are back to be taken seriously by one and all.

With Man Utd looking a bit nervous in their UCL encounter the Torintinos this did seem coming. But no one predicted a 4-goal drubbing. Add the sudden form Chelsea have gotten into after Hiddink’s arrival and you might just have an exciting title finish(obviously, United are required to have a few slip-ups for that).

Now we would like to know what a Liverpool fan would like to say to SAF and Manchester United’s team & fans. And we don’t need to give you a hint for that!

What Do United Fans Have To Say To Jose Mourinho? In FIVE Words Only!

March 13th, 2009 by The Editor, EF24/7

After having lost to Sir Alex for the second time, Jose Mourinho’s dream of taking revenge from Chelsea by defeating them in the Champions League, at least for this year, has been shattered. SAF’s men defeated Jose’s Inter side 2-0 last night and cruised into the quarters of the Champions League, throwing Inter out of the competition. Jose Mourinho who made his famous run at Old Trafford a few years back, when he celebrated Porto’s late goal, was obviously a disappointed man last night. Porto then went on to win the Champions League under Jose, following which he was signed by the billionaire owner of Chelsea. Jose must surely have been shattered, considering he was signed by the Italian champs to win the UCL as they were winning the Serie-A since three years anyway!

The 2-0 scoreline may sound like a comfortable one but it was nothing even close to that. As described by Sir Alex himself, the game was a suicidal one. Even after scoring the goals United were extremely nervous and had Inter knocking at their defence-line more then a few times. Unfortunately they failed to score, even after hitting the woodwork twice.

Now your work is to tell us what you would like to tell Mr. ‘Special One’ if you are a United fan. However, you only have FIVE words to do the same. Fortunately, we do provide you with our excellent Hints!

HINT: Jose said a week back that United will try to chase him after Ferguson retires, never mind.

FA Cup Semis Draw - United Up Against The Toffees

March 9th, 2009 by The Editor, EF24/7

After an incredible performance against Fulham at the Cottage, Manchester United will be facing Everton in the semi-final of the FA Cup. United thrashed Fulham with four goals - 2 from Tevez and one a piece from Rooney and Park. Tevez’s brilliant performance showed just why he’s so highly regarded by SAF. Rooney netted a beautiful one after assisting Tevez earlier.

Everton, who beat Boro 2-1 believe that it’s their year, especially after beating the Reds. Not that Everton did anything great by defeating Liverpool, as no one expected much from the Scousers after their on-off performances in all competitions. However, skipper Phil Neville who will be up against his former club and his brother, believes that they have done enough hard work to earn the title and should get past through the quintuple chasing Red Devils.

In the other semi-final Chelsea will probably be up against the Gunners, who should, in all probability, defeat the Tigers. Arsenal play Hull on the 18th of this month - right after facing Roma in the same week. Arsenal got through R5 by easily defeating West Brom. With young gun Vela, come-back kid Eduardo and out-of-sorts Eboue scoring for the Gunners, Arsenal didn’t have much problems in the match. Ok, agreed it was West Brom - but Arsenal did come good at a time when no games are actually cake walks.

Considering they’ve had an unbeaten run of 17 matches in all competitions, getting past through both Roma and Hull shouldn’t be an issue. Chelsea eased passed Coventry in the R6 game with Drogba and Alex netting the ball in either halves.

Ronaldo - Actor or Victim?

March 8th, 2009 by The Editor, EF24/7

It’s true that poor Cristiano Ronaldo was actually fouled by Ledley King in the penalty area during the Mickey-Mouse Cup final. However, not only was the penalty not given but also poor Ronaldo was booked for diving. We agree he has dived several times in the past, but there is no way in which a ref should judge a penalty decision based on a player’s character. So is Ronaldo being targeted by referees? David Beckham Pays To Stay At Milan Until End Of Season. Any Regrets With United Visiting?

March 6th, 2009 by The Editor, EF24/7

David Beckham will be staying at the San Siro till the end of this season. He is understood to have paid up to £3mn to extend his loan deal from LA Galaxy.

Under a unique “timeshare” agreement, the England midfielder will play for Galaxy between July and October before returning to Milan in November for the remainder of the Italian season. However, such was the financial gulf between Galaxy’s valuation and what Milan were willing to pay, that Beckham was forced to step in to break the impasse by funding an agreement himself.
The deal, which is is expected to be officially confirmed by the clubs in the coming days, follows weeks of negotiations between the two clubs during which Milan made it clear they were reluctant to pay the £12million transfer fee Galaxy were demanding. However, Beckham’s desire to remain at the San Siro, in order to improve his chances of playing in next year’s World Cup finals in South Africa, has effectively led to him funding the unique loan deal himself.

Adriano Galliani, the vice-president of AC Milan, refused to officially verify the deal but said he was “more optimistic” over the chances of keeping Beckham at the San Siro. Beckham moved to the Galaxy in 2007, signing a five-year deal. He does have an escape clause in that contract - which comes into effect in November, halfway through the term - but he would have to pay hefty compensation to exercise it. The agreement means Beckham misses at least 17 games of this year’s MLS season, and his return to the USA now looks set to be on July 18 at the New York Red Bulls.

Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has backed David Beckham’s decision to remain with AC Milan. Read the rest of this entry »

Benitez Blames Torres’ Absence For Lost Points: Is He Finally Admitting Mistakes?

March 6th, 2009 by The Editor, EF24/7

Liverpool boss Rafa Benetiz last night told the media that if superstar Fernando Torres was not injured as much as he has been this season, then Liverpool would not have slipped so far behind Premiership leaders Manchester United. He said, “The worst thing has been the injuries to Torres. Maybe if Torres had not been injured so much things would be different. He has been our main striker and scored a lot of goals for us last season. And this season could have been totally different with him.”
