Pique focused on Euro 2016

Barcelona defender Gerard Pique insists he cannot get into a spat with fellow defender Sergio Ramos, with the European Championship on the horizon.

Pique has not reacted well to Ramos’ latest words after the Real Madrid star urged him to avoid ‘childish things’ following his comments about Madrid defender Alvaro Arbeloa.

The Barcelona star has never been a massive fan of Real Madrid and made matters worse last week when he described Arbeloa as a ‘training cone’ on Twitter.

In response, Ramos claimed Pique had taken things too far following Real Madrid’s shock 2-1 win at the Nou Camp earlier this month.

He told Radio Cope last week: “There is no getting around this kind of discussion, these childish things that people like Pique should avoid. A little humour never hurts, of course, but not disrespect.”

However, Pique has now claimed the pair need to settle the differences as they prepare to play alongside each other at Euro 2016 in France.

“Ramos attacking me saying I should stop acting silly? The Euro is coming, so this is not the time to react to that,” he is quoted as saying on Twitter by @BarcaStuff.

Both Pique and Ramos will be hoping to work well alongside each other after their disappointing World Cup campaign in 2014.

Vicente del Bosque’s men, who are priced at 6.50 to win Euro 2016, have been drawn against Croatia, Czech Republic and Turkey in the group stage.
